Release Blitz & Book Review: Just Friends by Monica Murphy

Just Friends
by Monica Murphy
Genre: New Adult Romance
Release Date: September 13th, 2016

Synopsis:

It’s the end of summer. Just before I start senior year with my two best friends in the whole world. Dustin and Emily are everything to me. We’ve been inseparable since middle school, and when we’re together, nothing can go wrong.

But things aren’t always what they seem. Em’s turned into a drunken mess who parties too much. Dustin and I have hooked up a few times - and now he’s ready to take our relationship to the next level. Yet I’m not sure I want things to change. I’m scared if I take it any further with Dustin, our friendship will be ruined forever. Then there’s Ryan. The new guy. He’s hot. He flirts way too much. And Em has totally set her sights on him.

So when my best friend betrays me in the worst possible way, guess who’s there to help me pick up the pieces of my broken heart? Ryan. But he’s so confusing. Annoying. Sweet. Sexy. I want to trust him, yet he makes it so hard. What I really want is for everything to go back to the way it was before.

Before I found out that best friends make the worst kind of enemies.

My review:

A trip down memory lane…even though my teen years were a lot different I had to think of my time at school during this read.
I really enjoyed this story but I had to get used to Livvy's selfishness first. The characters were believable but as typical teens they were really annoying.
This book was well written because despite all the teenage drama I was really engrossed in the story and couldn't stop reading. I actually thought this would be a standalone and I desperately wanted to know how this story ends but as it seems I have to wait for it a bit longer.

The Story:
Livvy spent the summer holidays at her fathers and can't wait to see her best friends Em and Dustin again. Although the summer holidays weren’t that long, it seemed like a lot happened in this time. People change and time moves forward even if you want it to or not. When Livvy discovers the secret her best friends kept from her, she is angry and sad at what they did.
Livvy thought a lot about her time with Dustin when they were messing around but now she can't ignore the gorgeous guy named Ryan standing in front of her in Em's backyard.
Can Olivia forgive Em and Dustin? Will they grow as friends or will their friendship break?!
Boys drama, girls drama and everything else one has to go through during the teenage years is included in this story.

Thoughts:
The characters were really annoying though there was one I actually liked and that’s Amanda. She seemed really nice and normal and not like the usual gossiping bitch but she was sadly not the main character. Livvy on the other hand was so indecisive, annoying and selfish. She didn’t want to decide between two boys and I had the feeling as if the story was turning in a circle. She kind of knew who she wanted but hung onto both guys and I felt so bad for them because why doesn’t she just draw a line and cut one of them loose instead of leading them on?!

I enjoyed this read and I definitely want to read the next book in this series but I hope it won't be dragging too much because I want an ending soon! I can't do this turning in a circle for long.
