Found Underneath
by  K.L. Kreig
Series:
Finding Me #2
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: May 30th, 2017

Blurb:

It began as a ruse.

Take a girlfriend. Divert the press from the fucked up mess that’s my family until my father is re-elected. Stage a public breakup. Move on.

Only that brilliant plan went straight south the moment I set eyes on Willow Blackwell.

I found her.

My center. My future. A soulmate with the will of a mule and the mouth of a harpy.

I now want things I never wanted before. Permanent kinds of things.

Only Fate—and her ex—have other plans for us.

In some sort of cosmic impossibility, our lives unknowingly intersected years before when tragedy befell both our families. Once the devastating truth is finally revealed, the future I’d found in her will come crashing down around us and for the first time in my life I’m completely helpless.

I may very well lose the only woman I've ever loved to a past neither of us saw coming.

*Warning: 18+ only. Contains foul language, explicit sex and a hot alpha (or two, or three). NOTE: This is NOT a standalone. It’s the conclusion to LOST IN BETWEEN, which MUST be read first.

About the author:

As a USA Today Bestselling author, I write stories that are deeply emotional with flawed characters, because humans ARE flawed and if we read about perfect characters living in their perfect world, first of all, snoozer, but secondly, we never experience the gratification of redemption.

Outside of writing, I’m just a regular ol’ Midwest girl who likes Game of Thrones and am obsessed with Modern Family and The Goldbergs. I run, I eat, I run, I eat. It’s a vicious cycle. I love carbs, but there’s a love-hate relationship with my ass and thighs. Mostly hate. I like a good cocktail (oh hell…who am I kidding? I love any cocktail). I’m a huge creature of habit, but I’ll tell you I’m flexible. I read every single day and if I don’t get a chance…watch the hell out. My iPad and me: BFFs. I’m direct and I make no apologies for it. I swear too much. I love alternative music and in my next life I want to be a bad-ass female rocker. I hate, hate, hate spiders, telemarketers, liver, acne, winter and loose hairs that fall down my shirt (don’t ask, it’s a thing).

My review:

I liked this conclusion a lot. It was filled to the brim with tension (not just the sexual kind) and lots of heartache.

I really enjoyed this book but especially the first half was a rather slow burn although there was a lot for the characters to work through. It was a constant up and down which had me as a reader anxious if Shaw and Willow will pull through or not.

The writing was, as always, really good. I like this author’s way of getting the reader’s attention with small things and building it up till the end. I always feel mind-blown after finishing a book of hers and this conclusion was no exception no matter the bumpy beginning.

The Story:
Willow and Shaw are still on thin ice. Their contract hangs between them no matter their growing feelings. Now that there is another obstacle with Reid in their way, willing to fight for Willow, they already have a lot to deal with in their early stages. Are their feelings strong enough to withstand this storm? Will the secrets be revealed and crumble the last pieces of their relationship? What will Willow decide in the end? Is all this worth fighting for? Or will she again give up and run, leaving behind a broken heart?

Thoughts:
There was always the same problem, the characters didn’t talk freely about their problems and they had lots of those talks where it was on the brink if Willow will forgive him or leave him. No matter what she said or didn’t tell him, he always stood by her but she always thought of running and he always had to catch her.

I wasn’t keen on where all those talks lead to either. Because they always ended up in lots of drama which eventually leaded to sex.
Don’t get me wrong, I did like the steamy stuff but did every serious talk have to end up this way? Couldn’t they just for once forgive and forget and cuddle or whatever?

I partly understood why Willow guarded her heart, because no one wants to get hurt, right? But Shaw was also scared and he had never loved before, so I thought that he would have more problems to admit his feelings than her.

Anyway, as I mentioned above, I really love the author’s writing which will always get me to read her books and so far, I've always enjoyed her stories a lot. This story just took its time to work its magic and wrap me in it but eventually I couldn’t resist loving it. The second half of this book was edge-of-the-seat-gripping suspenseful and I couldn’t stop reading. The characters run hot and cold but when they finally gave up on their doubts, which took one longer than the other, it was like fireworks.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
